Has anyone experienced this? The temp gauge suddenly spikes to max even though the engine temp is normal. Turning the key off and back on clears it and everything is back to normal. Problem is that this is happening every five minutes now!
Took it to the dealer and they are trying to sell me a new fan clutch though I'm sure its an electrical problem! I've done a few forum searches and guys have had similar problems due to a weak battery but it'd be great to hear from someone with the same problem.
Help! Its an '04 FX4 by the way...

I have a 4.2 that was having same problem. I just bought the truck and that was the least of my problems, but I read on another post that it may be causes by an old battery. I went and had it tested and sure enough I needed a new one. Since then the gauge has worked perfectly. I did change the sending unit a week prior and that didn't fix it. Good luck.
