Default engine tick

just wondering if anyone elses truck makes a ticking noise when idle. it goes away when the rpms are 1000 and up. Just wondering if theres anything wrong or if its normal. Thanks in advance.

That sir would be the infamous "lifter click" look it up in the search. Not much there can be done about it. My 06 had it.

If it is lifter click, there is an easy fix. Go to your local auto parts store and look for a product called Rislone (sp). It comes in a yellow, quart sized can and is usually found where the oil additives are stored. Add a quart when the engine is one quart low or use a quart instead of oil at the next oil change.

My old GMC had this problem peridiocally for about 10 years. Every time I heard the click, click, click, I used the Rislone treatment and it worked each and every time - never failed.
