I just hope it's not rod knock. Will change spark plugs and go through everything.

Do some serious reading on here before you take on that plug job.

Listening to it more, it really dosent go away until like 1500-1600 rpm. It's just the loudest at idle. Clack clack clack.

@SCORGE
Just an update-- I put my ear to a screwdriver near the pass side cam phaser. When I listen to it through the screwdriver it sound a like a real loud clacking noise. Must be cam phasers then. Also when I open the oil cap the sound pitch changes. I'm assuming because the bad phaser is on that side? Also inside the truck you could feel the motor shake pretty bad. Could the phaser be causing this?

Yeah, I think it's safe to say that one or both are on their way out.

The transmission fluid was bright red when I checked it, oil was brown. Truck was owned by a women. How do I know when I replace the phasers the sound dosent come back? Is there something causing this or is it a defect with the original part that was installed in the motor? Is this caused by a weak oil pump?

Best way to be sure is to do it all. Phasers, chains, guides, tensioners, crank sprocket, VCT solenoids, lifters, roller rockers. All while the covers are off anyway.

When I rev it to 1200rpm then let of the gas I hear a real bad clanking and ratching sound. Like when your cranking ratchet straps. Could this be the cam phasers or chain? I have a bunch of newer v10 motors I can take parts off of. Are the phasers the same?

Not looking forward to it. How hard is it to take the front cover off?
