If you did it per the manual, you removed the flex plate nuts from the torque converter. When you removed the transmission bolts (and supporting the trans), you should be able to pull the engine as you lift it out.

Replace the flex plate on the new engine. When you are about to install the new engine, here is the key for me: I put one of the bolts on the torque converter to the 12 o'clock position. I
then put a flex plate hole (that was used in the previous engine) and lined it up to the 12 o'clock position. When I set the engine in, I just had to line up the motor with motor mounts and wiggle the torque converter bolts into the flex plate.

It took about 20 minutes and a little bit of patience, but it slid in nicely. I mostly had a problem with the motor mounts lining up.

Strange, considering some of our generation of F-150s had motors built here in Canada

Something HUGE to note: when doing any major work on your truck, it is BEST to erase the "memory" of the PCM/Throttle Body. I was dealing with a weird issue on my truck after installation of the new engine, and after following the direction of several certified ford technicians, I erased the memory (NOTICE I DID NOT SAY REFLASH) on my PCM/Throttle body. Truck runs better. I recommend checking out YouTube's "fordtechmaculco" (spelling may be wrong). He outlines exactly what you need to do to erase the memory...

I'm actually surprised the reman engine did not highly recommend the procedure.
