a carbureted 302/ 5.0 / older engine that was awesome and they need to bring back along with the 460 inline six 300 and i guess the 351 as long as its tuned for not as low end torque engine all were great engines i like the 4.6 and 5.4 3 valve but they are pricey!

when you hit the gas does it speed up or go away? and does it sound like its going every time the engine turns or about every other rotation?

It goes away. The noise comes on certain rotation. Maybe pump bearing.

302 is junk the inline 6 300 and the 351w are the heat hands down best gas engines built by ford motor company...... all they need is a 4 barrel carb and a small rv cam and you'll have an ox wanting turned loose. Trucks aren't suppose to go fast they are made for work and pulling.

i never said anything bad about the I300 its a beast and so is the 351w but the 302 is a decent engine and can put out the same horses as a 351 if done right 351 is the way to go to pull anything

i've more old 70's 80's and early 90's trucks laying around than most junk yards you can take a carburated 302 and beat the ***** off it over and over again 351's would be they way to go ro pull anything tho

As far as i know the knocking that you hear is preignition of the fuel in the cylinder (detonation). I have seen planes that have been detonating and the cylinder head looks like it has holes shot out of it by a 50 cal. go to the dealer
