Engine Compartment light
I've been searching for a while, no luck on info so far
Never realized I do not have an Engine compartment light
So before I need it & don't have it figure I will add one
Multiple questions:
Do you have one/ stock or aftermarket ?
If stock where does it plug in?
I'm hoping to tap into the same plug if ti exists in my 2005 XLT truck
Aftermarket I'd probably buy LED I think
At the same time I figure I might as well add small grille lights & do all the wiring at the same time
Thanks

I have seen a few pics w/people who have wires going up into the hood that looked stock
I don't have any wires that go into the hood, nor do I see an empty socket/plug anywhere to plug into
--possibly its in the area near the windshield where all the stock wiring is run
Guess I'll do the same, buy an LED strip & wire it up
Thanks

Just cus it looks stock dont mean it is. No 04-08 and prob later mods have one or any wiring / plugs that could be used or even a fuse to power it. Take a hood light off a car rap the wires in black conduit run it down the hood neatly to power and any one that never had an F150 would think it was stock. Just my 2 cents

I keep a LED flashlight in my truck that has a magnetic base that swivels... It's as bright as anything else i've ever seen and you can point it whereever you need. I think that's the best option rather than wiring something up.

Sounds like a good idea. Who would the maker of this light be?

I actually have a light that plugs into the cigarette lighter, under back seat
I need to test it at nite & see how bright it actually is
They stated some ridiculous thing like 500w, by daytime test not that bright

This is the one I have. It was for sale at the counter at a local hardware place. Cheap and extremely bright!
