Default Emblem Removal

I'm trying to remove the oval from my tailgate but I'm not sure exactly how to do it. Any help would be great, thanks...

Ok your gonna need lots of fishing line. Do it in a warmer day prefetably. Its just glued on so use the fishing line to slide betwren the emblem and truck. You wont be able to go from one side to another bwcause the emblem has pegs that go ibto the tailgate to make it line up. Any more questions let me know. Why you takibg them off anyway?

Don't forget some lighter fluid and a rag for after you do it. Helps get the sticky stuff left from the glue off, just put some fluid on the rag and wipe it.

What are you planning to do with the holes and the recess that the emblem is set into.

My experience was this. I did it in the cold with a hairdryer. Got the emblem off, after snapping the line 10 times (need heavier test), then let the leftover tape cool off on the truck. Then it peeled off pretty easily and left no residue. Same thing for the side badges. Worked out great. And no mess afterward.

I just got a new overlay for the rear emblem and it doesn't say Ford, so I want to sand the raised letters on the emblem so they don't show through the new emblem. Unless anyone else has a better idea I can steal from them.

Should work. Just sand it down until smooth. I sanded mine around the edges to get rid of the crease around the oval. Then I painted it. Nobody notices but me, and maybe a few "car/truck" guys.

I don't know if I want to take it off or just tape it off and paint it that way.
