Default Electronic box

Hi there. I just happened to drop my spare tire on my 2008 F-150 super crew today. I notice this black electrical box that is mounted to the frame and is hidden by the spare tire. It is bulging with white corrosion. Does anybody know what the hell this is? I would like to replace it before it stops working. Whatever it does. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...Cheers!

FPDM. Commonly corroded due to dissimilar metals in contact with each other. Check on line at sites like Amazon for your replacement. Motorcraft or Dorman suggested. I did mine last year with Dorman and have had no problems.
