As kjr6306 mentioned, remove the large harness connector to the ABS module (open hood, look by drivers side, under the air box area. If the inner connector is wet from the recent rain you've experienced, dry it out (compressed air works great), clean up the terminals as best you can, reconnect using some dielectric grease (buy at your local auto parts store). It's worth a shot.

Just checked it and it's clean and dry. Any other suggestions?

I'm stumped. It does sound like an electrical issue, which could be as simple as a loose/wet condition, to a broken/loose gound connection.

Hey Guys,
As the original poster of this thread i figured i would check back and give an update. After listing my issues i had, my mechanic looked at one of the main electrical connections under the driver side mounted to the floor in a housing and there was no corrosion and he sprayed lithium grease there anyways to see what happens in case of a loose connection. My issues went away for three months and are now back with avengence, lol.

I am having the same issues with my truck beeping and all the warning lights coming on, gauges stop working, 4x4 lights blink on dash, radio will not turn off when opening the door when this happens, and occassionally the beeper as if keys in ignition with door open will stay on and cab lights will not sut off.

I have come to realize that the wiring harness under the drivers side only controls the rear lights of the truck, not the things up in the front of the vehicle so that will not cause my issue. I am going to try what you guys have mentioned about unplugging the abs module under the hood and let you know how that goes in a few days. I have also been told that there is a wiring harness under the passenger seat that can be corroded as well as under the spare tire in the tail end.

I have had the battery and altenator checked and there are no issues with them. According to several mechanics I have seeked for advice they say it is a common problem with fords and having corrosion issues, funny thing is they never say eactly how to fix it!

I have left the problem for too long now and its finally reached a point that it happens so often its annoying, lol.

Thanks

Yesterday it seemed fine for me, but today the problem came back. This time, I smacked the dash when it happened and instantly the gauge cluster went back to normal. Im gonna take it out and see if there is a loose connection. If not, it's back to square one.

Check those two large connectors on top of the cluster.

Mine has been fine for 6 months. For those having issues where the ABS lights come on as the first warning sign, the fix is to disconnect the battery and then pull the large wiring harness apart on the drivers side in the engine compartment. The harness has a large plastic clip that needs to be slid sideways before it can be disconnected. Look at the pins and sockets (30+) to see if there is green corrosion. If so, water is getting in your wiring harness causing shorts. I fixed by spraying compressed air to dry it out then used a mini flat screwdriver to scrape off the corrosion on all the sockets and pins and the loaded the whole socket with dielectric grease.

I know this is an old thread but don't wanna start a new one to have people cry about using the search function. Anyway, I'm having this issue and have done everything suggested in all the posts on it. I haven't found any corrosion anywhere and the battery and alternator check out. Now what is weird is I can smack the bottom of the steering wheel and reset the gauges. I've had the coloum apart and checked every connector there. I'm wondering if something is loose behind the gauges. But I can't make the gauges go out by hitting the wheel. Any suggestions or updates? Ford wants $100 just to look at it.

Well, I'll reply to the old thread again. I'm still having this issue. Had to replace my battery and alternator. Added an extra ground to my fuse panel which helped a bit. Cleaned connections in the gauges, that helped for a couple days. Read that the cylinder head temp sensor could be a problem since the a/c drops out with gauges. So that's on the to do list tomorrow. *edit* so I swapped out the cylinder head temp sensor today. We'll see what happens. Tried to check codes but that fuse (also powers the cigar lighter) was blown so that was replaced too. If this doesn't help I'll pull the gauges and double check and clean connections again.

Default Electrical issue

I originally posted this a few years back and have since sold the truck lol.
However I will tell you what I did that fixed my issue in the end. I called a scrape yard and got a used instrument cluster with similar mileage and replaced mine. After that all my issues went away. Apparently it was something to do with the circuitry on the cluster gone bad.
