Default Electric fan kit pros/ cons

I was f150.net and they were talking about a dual electric fan kit( I forget the brand) but it's made for the 04-08 f150s. One person said it was a like 19 hp gain, another person said they went from 12 mpg to 14.5 mpg. The problem is it is listed on the website at $420 or so. I was wondering if anyone here was running this setup or any other electric fan setup. Thanks for the info guys!

I would be curious about that. if it is a solid 2mpg gain, then the cost could be justifiable.

J walton, I believe you are referring to the E-fan kit from Troyer Performance and google knows how to find their website. For questions and thoughts about electric fan setups, there is a good writeup by luckythirteen in the "How To" section with lots of good info: https://www.f150forum.com/f33/my-efa...p-w-pics-7032/
Personally I can vouch for the Troyer kit, although I bought it used from a member on here for a lot less than $400 and made my own fan brackets.

You could piece together your own kit for under 200 bucks very easily.

Pros:
Better throttle response
More power especially especially in the lower RPM range
Slight increase in MPG
Frees up some space under the hood

Cons:
It would be more likely to mess up rather than a traditional fan
Possible wiring problems

With a good clean install you are less likely to experience these problems though.

Ya, that's the kit I was talking about. The Troyer Performance Dual 16" Electric Fan Kit for 2004 & up Ford F-150, other F-series & Expedition. Anyone know where I could buy one other than directly from them? $420 is alot, I will probably get it but I was just wondering if there was a better price out ther.

Has it been discussed what all you need and the suggested parts? I know I have seen a few threads were people said they made their own, but didn't go into much detail about what they did.

$400+ is too steep for me... but $200 is doable to me.

Go to www.troyerperformance.com. I put this kit on my 06 this fall, the MPG jumped from 10 MPG to over 13 (in town only). more low end power.
Also look at an underdrive pulleys.
I'm very happy so far, easy install, you will need to get some spacial tools (you can rent them) to remove the fan.

Sigh...It doesn't matter that you provided the link; You could re-type the entire article, and someone else will ask the question again.

No one wants to use the search, as they say it provides too many posts to sort through.

Then you're accused of being too harsh.
