Default Couple questions

I have a 2010 WRX that is alot of fun but it just isn't a truck. I'd like to trade it for a 2006+ truck (4x4 of course). I have spent the last 10 days or so going through pages 1-300 on this forum and here is what I have been able to discern.

2006+ doesn't have a cam phaser problem
leveling kits over 2.5" are bad mkay
CAI is garbage, do GOTTS mod
Don't mod for MPG
3.73 with 33" is good to go (with or without a leveling kit)
Evo is worth the investment
BFG all terrain is good to go, in snow as well (live in frosty Manitoba)
Plugs need to be changed before 100k (might attempt it myself with the Lisle tool)
CAI and exhaust don't give extra HP but sounds nice

Am I missing anything?

I have one question I wasn't able to find an answer too. One person had mentioned that the GOTTS mod isn't good because the inside of the fender gets full of mud which isn't ideal. Can someone clear that up?

For the test dive I should mash the petal to the metal, listen for wonky sounds, look underneath for leaks, try 4wd and 4low. Am I missing anything?

I'd like to get this trade done this weekend. Anything else anyone can think of that I need to know before looking at trucks? I'd like a 2006+ and I'll go from there.

Thanks

youve done some nice reading and came up with a good list, good work
as far as mud getting in after doing the gotts mod i dont see why it wouldnt have gotten in before, it was already a open tube inside of the fender, we just make it a little bigger, ive had mine done for about 6 months and just checked my filter the other day and doesnt seem to be any more amount of dirt in there.
on the test drive definatley take the truck through it paces. youve done some good research, seems like you know what too look for. good luck on the truck hunt. make sure you get some pics up here when you decide on the perfect one for you.

Best. New Member. Ever.

I wouldn't even mess with the Gott's mod personally, but, as madesicc said, I don't think you're worse off than stock.

Look for a limited slip, but other than that, I think you've done your homework, good luck on the truck hunt.

Yes, go with a 3.73 limited slip diff. Definitely a good thing.
I got the gotts mod and haven't seen any mud there yet and I live down a bunch of dirt (muddy when raining) roads. Theres some holes in the air intake piping that will drain any water that gets in.
A new catback exhaust does give you a little more power. That stock muffler is huge and very restrictive.
As far as 4x4, definitely check out the operation of it. Put it in 4-wheel and drive around and then put it back into 2-wheel and turn your steering wheel just until the stop while driving slowly to see if the cv-joints are still engaged. If they are after a couple seconds after putting it back into 2-wheel then some of those components are probably bad.
I have an 05 5.4 with some phasers that are kind of noisy. You can't hear it too bad with the hood closed, but open they are loud. I've had no operational problems with them though. The fuel injectors are louder than the phasers. TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK all the time.

I think Kman is member of the year with all the research he has done.Kudos man, kudos. Some damm nice research there also. Also ask if the brake booster vacume was replaced with the recall ford issued some 2 years ago.Even if the dealer says there good, have them replace anyways as its free because of the recall.Hey you never know man.Let us know things work out and you wont regret the truck
