Default Best "Budget" Tires

Hey all - I'm pretty new to the forum and F150 ownership. I just got a 04 Lariat with 18" stock wheels and she needs tires... Now, please oh please do not ridicule me for wanting "budget" tires. There's a difference between cheap and good value so please understand that I'm fully aware of the difference.

With that said, I'd like to spend under $185 a tire if possible so I'm wondering if guys have had better success with specific budget brands? I'm looking for a straight-forward highway tire so nothing crazy.

Any suggestions or thoughts would be great.

Love the forum thus far!

Thanks.

x2 on the Geolanders. I got them at my local co-op 3 years ago almost to the day. and have put on 40k miles and they still have very good tread and have given me no issues. I got them for $160/ea installed with a 60k mile warranty and lifetime road hazzard with free rebalancing and rotating.

I like the Geolander as well. Hankook Dynapro is my next choice.

I just bought some Hercules Terra Trac (Cooper) for $155 ea. And that was a LT version. Regular version was even less. Quiet, nice ride, good look, and decent tread.

My old man runs terra trac. Has for over ten years. Won't run anything else. They are a great all terrain tire. If they made them in an oversized tire, and i was wanting an all terrain, they would be my first choice hands down.

Firestone has the Destination LE2 highway tire on sale till end of month buy 3 get 1 free. I running the 18" on my 06 and the wear and ride has been excellent so far with 20K on them. I don't live where it snows so no comment about snow and ice traction. Good reviews on tirerack.com

Since you have 18s, that's going to jack the price up just a tad on some of the tires in the comments since most are 17s. Now I don't have experience with these however I have heard nothing but good about this company. If your interested in retreads, this may be an option - 285/65/18 (33s) for $176 a tire. Comes with a 2 year warranty. I run nothing but retreads and I have been extremely satisfied with them on my truck as well as my old Ranger. I'll be purchasing my next set - 315/70/17 (35s) off of this company once mine wear out.
