With a 05 5.4L I would STRONGLY consider getting custom tunes. The 04-08 5.4L are notorious for running lean with an intake. Do not run level 3 as this causes the condition to get worse.

I was looking at the gryphon website. I found it a little confusing.... For what exactly them do to my edge programmer.

I also adjusted my timing by +.50, every truck is different, but you can make small increments up in timing and see how your truck likes it. I was getting 10-12 mpgs before installing the Edge, now after i've been romping on it all the time and and letting the RPM's sore as if it was a standard. Believe me, the edge is reading like 15 mpgs and when i fill it up i imagine thats pretty close just by watching my gas gauge. I can only imagine what i get if i get off the gas more. I've been thinking also about adjusting my first gear shift at MPH, so i can get into 2nd gear sooner...

Also, i belive you can change your 3-4 shift point MPH to negitive numbers to allow an earlier shift to 4th gear.
I did that with mine. #1 trans only setting. Lowered the 1-2-3 shift points as far as they would go. And bumped the timing +1.

I also set the alarm to go off at 2100 RPM. I was surprised at how well you can keep up with traffic, and stay below 2,100.

It worked well. I got great mileage.

That lasted about 2 weeks, and I couldn't take it any more.
Went back to the #2 tune. Turned the shift points back up for the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. Set the firmness at +8. Advanced the timing +1.
And turned the $%#^%$ alarm off.

Aaaaaah The feel and sound of power again. Why spend money to make your truck run like a turd.

If you have a monochrome Edge, it has to be sent in and get converted. In the conversion, the device is changed to accept custom tunes. Custom tunes change a/f trims and a load of other things to account for intakes, etc.

The Edge CS/CTS can download Gryphon tunes when ordered via the server Fusion.

Look under the support tab on PHP's website. They have a link to their forum where they can answer any more questions.

Question... So I have a weld on flowmaster. If I get a gryphon custom tune, should I tell them I have a aftermarket exhaust? Or does that weld on not effecting my performance?

A chambered flowmaster will keep performance the same or decrease from stock. Straight through mufflers are the only ones proven for gains. And you don't have to, cat back exhaust modifications don't have to be accounted for, but the more info the better for Bill.

i think the problem with the mileage calculation that the edge uses is that is calculates 0 in for periods when you are sitting at a stop light. my ampg on edge reads about 17mpg. i do a lot of highway driving (4x4 5.4l) and my hand calculated mileage is about 17, but, as soon as i drive off the highway, my edge ampg goes to like 15 that why i have isolated it to it counting the zero mpg with as much weight as say a 30mpg on the highway. not sure if thats clear but some might get what im saying

I have not hand calculated my fuel economy since the last time I tweaked my settings..... I will be getting a gryphon as soon as I get some other mods done first.

I'm getting 15 city 19 highway(according to edge usually 2mpg lower than actual)

Here by my settings
No Muffler- Modified Gotts

WOT 1-2: 5250
WOT 2-3: 5250
Wot 3-4: 4800
Max RPM 5450
Idle: -50
1-2 shift firm +12
2-3 shift frim +12
3-4 shift firm +9
Timing. +1.00
WOT fuel: 1.50

It's very clear, gas is still being burnt at idle even when no mileage is being put on the truck.. Miles divided by gallons = mpg... There has to be TWO factors to make MPG's.
