well, i think the issue with defending or degrading the Edge tuner is a somewhat unique one. For one thing, it gets style points and thats where many people are pulled in. tuning is not so much a few presses of the button as it is an art form. I know quite a few SCT tuners, one of them used my car as a guinea pig for his auto/economy tuning files. Its much more than just more fuel, more line pressure, etc...The spark table adjustments, convertor lock and unlock settings, progressive line pressure at throttle positions are critical. Those of us who have been around the block and have been playing with Ford EEC tuning for a number of years have a great disdain for the plug and go tuners that claim these big numbers and have multiple settings.

For those of us who do some tweaking outside of what our tuners do, running something like SCT's Live Link and Xtreme Tune software is very useful. If there is a spark table issue or a shift point set too high, all we have to do is contact our guy, email him the datalogged "event" and we get a new tune.

All of this being said, go to ANY Fast Ford Weekend event and see what the big dawgs are running, the guys running 10s in their daily driver 2004 Cobras are using SCT, same for the 11 second N/A cars, or even the S197 turbo cars running 9s. Those of us who "push" SCt programming do so for a reason...because no matter how big her boob job is or how good that little tattoo looks, experience always owns young and dumb.

He knows the tuning parameters because he wrote the software that they drove out of the factory with....I never told the kid NOT to listen to the information he learned in class, but there is information he will NOT be taught in the class.

on a side note, I am a teacher, I instruct college bounds students in an Advanced Placement class in which they are to gain college credit for their class. If you think I told the kid not to listen to what he learns in class, then you didnt completely comprehend what I stated and your disagreement was out of context.

well i guess the school teahcer is the taking over autoshop what makes you assume that i won't be taught right, my instructor happens to have 10 years in the ford garage working on a40d's aod-E's t-5's and yes the trans in my truck now i realize that the ap teacher knows everything i should sell my programmer and buy and sct come on man honestly i apprectiate the advice on the transmission but you took it a little to far talkin about my schooling bub this argument needs to stop everyone obviously has there own opinion hope you like your sct programmer as much as i like my edge i custom programmed it where it tows my mustang and trailer like a dream gets good fuel economy, but hey your the expert maybe next time i turn the key on in my truck its gonna explode cause i bought the wrong programmer

Your programmer is not custom programmed. Its a canned program. Just an FYI. I think that a tuner built by the people that ORIGINALLY wrote the program for Ford is better than a programmer that cracked the code and can do about 1/4 of what the SCT programmer can do. Just my .02

its nice to see that your snide attitude will help you learn something, ive been working on 4R70Ws as long as your teacher. Kevlar bands and triple disk convertors dont mean squat. I linked you to a thesis for use as a secondary resource because the author invented the 4R70W. But, youre right, what do I know......BTW, use a period every now and then.

my butt sits on black leather, I have a $500 class ring that I worked for, my IQ is over 125. Im superior and I know it. Do yourself a favor and check your ego, you are in school to learn and not just from your teacher, I had professors. But, if you are unable to take and use someone elses info and apply it in a constructive manner, youre perceived quest for education is all for naught.

haha, black leather cracks too soon, class rings are for people who have to show off to make them feel better. I can talk trash on and on, but i wont. The edge is a good programmer and so is the sct. No we can get along.
