Default leveling kit problems FIXED

i ordered the 2.5" kit from HBS. super nice product. the only problem is that the A arms are on way too ridiculous of an angle to even put back together.

i got the spacer on top of the strut fine. rotated it 180deg and torqued it up. got the lower bolt in and put a jack under it and had the whole weight of the truck sitting on it but the upper A arm would not go on. ball joint and cv joints were on huge angle and the brake lines looked like they would rip off if i turned.

do i need a drop upper A arm? what's up with this? anyone had this problem. after reading about everyones installs is seems most people go through it fine.

thanks for any help,

Devon

All you need to is use a ratchet strap to pull them together.

yeah i realize that i could do that but everything is stretched to their limits. like balljoints are maxed right out and that is with full weight on that wheel.

What do you mean by the UCA won't go on? You mean you can't seat the BJ in the knuckle?

Pics? Sounds like something is wrong, it shouldn't be that hard.

All I had to do was use a small pry bar to push the a-arm down. You must be doing something wrong.

nobody had to use a spring compressor or anything? no pics and i cant get the truck back up on the hoist for another week. buddy went to mexico. the only way to get it back together would have been to compress the strut. but the truck was essentially sitting under load at ride height, and it wouldnt go together. and theres not too much to **** up on. sway bar and everything was undone. i might try it in my driveway again one day after work this week.

I dunno man, something seems fishy here. Myself and two buddies installed mine with minimal problems. We basically man-handled everything into place along with a big pry-bar and a small ratchet strap. Once we had it all assembled and the wheel/tire back on, we lowered the jack and it all looked like it was before the kit with the engine weight on it.

Don't stress too hard man, it'll come together. Patience is key on this one. Don't hurry and hurt yourself or anything on your truck.

i think its just that we didnt pry the upper control arm down, i just pulled it down by hand and it would go far enough. ill try this later.

thats about the angle the my balljoint looked like it would have been on.
