Default Magnaflow* exhaust setup.

Wanted to get ya'lls opinions on this set up. Got a quote from a custom muffler shop around here for a total custom system with the Dynomax Superturbo SI/DO for $349. IS anyone running this setup? Im looking for something that is less restrictive and has a good tone but no highway drone. The guy that owns the place said this was the setup for me. anyone runnign a dynomax muffler? What do yall think of the price/setup?

IMO most "custom" systems look like crap when compared to a nice bolt on setup. Which you can get in aluminized with mandrel bends for that price (and in stainless for a little more), and you can install in an hour in your driveway.

Yeah, I have seen a few systems that I liked on a few websites for the same price. But I have seen his work on both his truck and two other trucks from my neighbors and they dont look crappy or cheap. All his tubes are aluminized and mandrel bent and includes black chrome 3 inch tips. I was cautious of a cheap looking system but ive been impressed with his work. He offered me to same setup wiht a glass pack for $299. Its not that i cant do they work but why do it if i can pay the same and get him to do it.

Definitely go bigger than 3" on the tips no matter which way you go, you'll regret it otherwise. Get at least 3.5".

Search all the systems on youtube and try to find one you prefer, start asking people when you hear one driving around that you like, trust me it's worth a little more to get exactly what you want - you have to listen to it every day.

I know the tip size affects tone, but how much does it vary between a 3 inch and an 3.5? should i go to a 4 inch? Dont know much about the tips?

Tips don't make that big of difference in the sound. I'd go bigger for looks.

Here's the 4" tip on my MBRP, the tubing is 3.5" so a 3" tip would be smaller than that:

Default Eshaust dron inside cab

I have an 02 Super Duty with the 5.4. I had a muffler shop install a Magnaflow SI-DO muffler with an 18 inch body with 2 1/4 pipes out the rear. On take off it has a very aggressive sound, when you reach cruising speed the roar, rumble, drone is gone. Ther is very little drone inside the cab. I'm 62 years and have always had duals on every truck I,ve owned. I am very pleased with this setup. Also my wife has never made a comment, about "What have you done to this truck" I don,t think she knows that any exhaust work has been done.

The exhaust tip size won't affect sound. Unless you went with a old Volkswagen Bug exhaust tip that's a whole 1/2 inch across....
