To bring this to a close - at least for me, I sent the following email to Mr. Ouren this morning. I'll advise if there is a reply...

"Mr. Dan Ouren
Du-Ha Inc.

Re: Proposed F150 group buy

Dear Mr. Ouren:

First, allow me to offer a sincere apology if my initial query to you offended in any way. That was never my intent.

Second, I've attached copies of the original comments about the DuHa storage unit and its pricing that led me to contact you so you can see that my approach to you was based on truthful information and so that you will know this was not just some scheme on my part to wrestle a 50% discount for myself or anyone else. Note: any and all identifying information - forum i.d., screen names, emails, etc. have been removed - only the actual comments are included to protect the identity of others.

I shared your reply with the forums I subscribe to and I am also attaching those comments, again after removing any and all identifying information. Consider it perhaps a very unscientific focus group. As would be expected about any product the comments were both pro and con as you will see.

Finally, and most important, please know that I do not represent any Ford Truck online forum, group of members or individual member in any way. This query about a group purchase was my idea and executed solely by me. If offended, it would be wrong of you to direct any ill will toward any such forum, group or Ford truck owner other than myself. I was simply trying to explore what I hoped would be a win/win idea for all parties that now, in hindsight, does not appear to have been one of my best ideas.

Likewise, please know that this email and apology is also of my action only and is also being posted for all to read. If at any time you would choose to offer a group discount purchase on the DuHa F150 models, at whatever priding works for everyone, I would be happy to bring this to the attention of the forums to which I subscribe.

Thank you for taking time to reply and consider my request."

Based on comments on the two sites - read the original posts - no one spported their $200 price tag. I've aproached DuHa about a group buy at $100 each. Here is the reply...

Subject: RE: du-ha.com-DU-HA Website Form Submission

It's hard to believe that someone who spends 35-50 thousand dollars for a
Pick-up would complain about a $200.00 storage unit that is designed specifically for each truck model. We are a small company, we can't buy a million of them at a time, and we make them in the USA. You know the old saying, "you get what you pay for." If you would like to discuss this further feel free to contact me at any time.

I find that answer to be very ignorant. Not professional at all. How does this guy expect to make a sale with an answer like that? Who is paying 35 to 50k for their truck on this forum? I guess what he means is that if some one is dumb enough to spend that much money on a truck, they are dumb enough to spend 200 on their product.
I checked the website and it does look like a nice product, but I wouldnt pay 200 for it. Maybe 150 after shipping. With the economy sucking right now with people getting laid off and hrs being cut back for most, you gotta be crazy to charge a high amount for a product like that. That 200 bucks could go towards something much more useful.
Sorry if I butted in, I hate controversy and stay quiet, but I had to say something after reading that ignorant answer.

Well, you guys have a nice day.

I agree I think there response was a complete break away from how business is conducted. I have never seen a business owner or manager act that way in my life. Whenever I have complained about something I usually get something for free or a discount off the price. But you are just inquiring to see if you can help out all parties and I think his rude response is completely unwarranted. I was very interested in their product, looks well made, and almost worht the price. If he wouldve countered with a slight price dip for a group buy I would have been in. But after that response I can assure you I will NOT be doing business with them in the future.

In addition I paid 13 for my truck. I think it is arrogant to believe we all paid over 35 for our trucks. I bet a majority here paid less than 20. just my 2 cents

Good e-mail; it was conciliatory but got the point across at the same time. Thanks for trying to work a deal.

Here's a link to the product FYI:

[1] Their reply to your group buy offer: Rude and arrogant
[2] Buy at retail price: Hell no, not $200 bucks for a storage compartment. I can find $200 to spend on something more valuable.
[3] Your suggest group buy: A little to low. Maybe around $125-$140 would be best.

Having given their reply, IF and that's a big IF I was in the market for such a storage device I defiantly wouldn't buy from them with their kind of attitude.

Seriously, I'm in aggreement w/ everyone else. Anyone that paid 35-50k for their truck is either a Limited/KR/Lariat and those are still a minute fraction. Secondly, I have no use for an underseat storage unit as mine is currently occupied by a sub box (2-10's) but after reading his response to the initial inquiry, I would never purchase anything from their company. If he was that rude in your first convo, being a potential customer, then how are they going to react if you call customer service after you are a customer? Nice response letter back as well. LMAO @ made DuHa's letter look like it was written by a 10 yr old.

Screw him, he can keep his product! Those interested in this product need to buy quick, that guy's trying his best to run customers off! He won't last long...
