I'm running true dual straights off of the cats out to 12" cherry bomb glass packs straight out the back. It's loud, but not obnoxious. The 5.4 isn't a truly loud engine IMO. http://vid1337.photobucket.com/album...ps7x3z4rdt.mp4
This was when I first got in it for the day. The popping subsides once the truck warms up a bit. It sounds virtually the same now that it's broken in. I had what I believe was cherry bomb extreme si/so (single in, single out) before this setup that was dual'd out after the muffler. It had a nice rumble/growl to it, but wasn't as loud as I wanted. Definitely not quiet, but not as loud as I wanted.
Best I have of an exhaust clip with it. http://vid1337.photobucket.com/album...ps84bedc0a.mp4

Just as a clarification for others that may look at this thread, you are not actually talking about dual exhaust but dual tailpipes. There is a significant difference.

Not mine, mine is two pipes running off the engine that never intersect. Hence why I called mine true dual straights.

Do you consider X pipe true duals?

Yup. As long as there's two pipes off the engine running to two mufflers out to two tips its true dual.

We offer a few different options for the 5.4l. Our catbacks are made to give you a big improvement in sound, while maintaining a manageable volume for everyday driving which sounds like what you may be looking for. Feel free to shoot us a PM if you'd like more info on any of our systems!
Look into the Magnaflows. I bought my truck yesterday and it already has a Magnaflow dual pipe cat back exhaust on it. I really like the way it sounds. Nice rumble at idle, and when you first take off. Sounds really good under WOT. But once you get to cruising speeds, it's not really noticeable, at least not inside of the truck. Even at highway speeds, there is not a loud drone that you get with some other exhaust systems. You'll hear it when you go to pass someone, but not when cruising at 70.

I had a Borla exhaust on my Mustang, and it sounded meaner at idle, but I could hardly stand it on the highway. Had to install better speakers to drown out the noise.

Ageed, and I was not talking about yours tareed94 which is a true dual. All the kits out there are not dual exhaust but rather dual tailpipes purely for the look.

Your's will actually be useful and make better power.

I also agree the a X-pipe is true dual as it has separate pipes for each side of the engine. The purpose of crossing over the pipe is for scavenging effect thus improving flow.

I just wanted to note that dual tailpipes serve no purpose other than looks.
