Wow, you run your batteries in series? Did you replace your entire electrical system with 24v components? Impressive.

yup, very nice on the kinetiks!!

you dont even need an equilizer or anything, it dosnt work like 24 volts like that...it makes it work as like an addition to the beggining battery making it that much stronger, so there both being charged off the alternator. You can even run an alternator wire to the second battery if you want so there both being charged as the alternator itself is regulated

If you put two 12v batteries in series you get 24V=ALWAYS
If you put two 12v batteries in parallel you get 12V

That is what he was referring to;

I run two batteries in series with a balancer= I have two 12V batteries in parrellel and I'm using a balancer

i have 8 12 volt batteries, all positives together all negatives together...no problems and its still 12 volts, i know people who run 18 batteries together same way i do...still 12 volts, no problem

I've owned several campers, 3 VW Westfalias, and I can tell you without a doubt: running batteries in parallel will put a heavy charge load on a standard alternator. Also, if one battery discharges, it will drain any other battery it is in parallel with.

Don't cheap out; do it right and buy an equalizer. It seperates the two batteries, but both can be charged by one alternator, one at a time. You keep your primary battery for the "normal" functions, and the secondary battery for your stereo equipment, or whatever.

But its your truck. Do with it what you want.

I concur (dunno i felt like saying that) but Bucko good point that many batteries in a parallel circuit will own any standard alternator and the batterys. I have been very pleased with my equalizer and the performance of both batteries.
