Downsides to lifting an 08 F150??

Mileage sucks with a lifted gas engine, its an IFS thats a big downer too. Not to mention the IFS has all the CV shaft goodies.
Not saying its weaker just more possible issues. Where a D60 will handle 40s like a champ a 8.8 IFS really wont too well.

I love the looks of the lifted trucks, but I am just really conflicted on if I wanna lift mine or not. My tire shop said they would 'test' fit 35 Toyo MT's on my truck so I will see if that gives me what I want. .

I've driving a couple and there not too much different than stock but if you drove a ton I wouldn't recommend doing it. Also if you go with an m/t tire it will produce a lot of road noise and make your truck ride rougher.

The reason I'm test fitting with an MT tire is because they tend to be a tad bigger than AT's and so if that fits I know for sure an AT will. I want a tire that does good in snow and mud, I don't go in mud much, but when I do I want to be able to get through it, the BFG TA KO's don't do so well...they seem to fill up and slip alot.

Bigger tires are heavier and will most definitely ride harsher. That's what changes the ride characteristics. A higher center of gravity will change it somewhat as well. Besides these, the cost is another factor. You have to really want it to live with it every day. Especially over a 4" lift.

Here is an idea, find a buddy or someone you know that has lift and either drive it or ride in one and it will give you a better idea. Again, IFS is just fine and with only 35s you really shouldn't have massive problems. People always assume that IFS is weak in comparison to bigger tires which really isn't all true as most kits are now so well designed they are used everywhere as DD and no issues but on another hand some few have had bad luck with there's but most of the time it was shoty install or abusing the truck so much so that things start to break.

My 08 had 7.5" of total lift. I regeared to 4.56's and added a programmer. Doing a lift the right way can be pricey. Driveability and durability were great, and the ride was not hindered or made worse.
Lol good salesman! There is nothing wrong with that size of a IFS lift on the F150. Just make sure you get a quality lift and a reputable shop to install it and make sure they don't try and crank down things just to get you a little higher. Double check CV angles and make sure they are as close to factory as possible. As for wear faster, really slamming your foot down on the gas pedal a lot is faster wear on a stock truck, just comes to maintenance and what you use it for. Go big time offloading and then get mad you break stuff is just silly lol.
Here was mine. It was my DD, and I loved it.
