Dorman IWE's fail after 10k miles?
Both of them it seems, within a few weeks of each other. Getting that grinding/rattling during part throttle acceleration coming from the hubs. Mostly the passenger side, but had the drivers side doing it too the other day. Goes away if 4x4 is engaged.
I replaced both of the IWE's 2 years/10k miles ago with dorman units.
Strange that they would both fail at the same time, and right when winter shows up So I'm thinking maybe they aren't failing, or failed due to another root cause.
I've been running the updated IWE selenoid with the little roof on it for probably 3 years now, installed that before I replaced the IWE's.
Truck idles perfectly at 500RPM, so I don't think I have a vacuum leak. But I do have a vacuum tester I can use to confirm a few things, I'm just not sure what to confirm exactly. Any suggestions?

You have to check out the lines and check valves as well. The lines can get pinholes in them. Sounds like there may be water in something, and it's freezing now that it's cold.
I wouldn't just go ruling out the IWEs right away.

Good idea. I just re-read that "everything you need to know to diagnose your 4x4 system" thread and those check valves or the reservior are prime suspects at this point.
Sounds like I can throw the vacuum tester on the IWE's themselves, and on the check valves to pinpoint the issue.

Vacuum leak somewhere...the IWE’s are just reacting to poor vacuum to hold them disengaged...you make less vacuum as your RPM’s increase...

I put two new dorman actuators on my truck on thanksgiving, and both of mine are clicking like a bicycle now.... I'm real happy about it. Rock auto is replacing them, but they are not paying for my alignment I'll need after replacing...

why would you need an alignment after replacing IWE's

Alignment? Never heard of that one.
You also need to look at other components. It's hard for me to believe that you guys are getting two bad IWEs.

also I have brand new vacuum hoses both the one connecting to the back of the intake, as well as the 4x4 hose, plus a new dormant solenoid. I can't think of anything else that would cause this issue?
When installing I followed fordtechmakuloco's youtube instructions to a tee.
To sum it up, I have new hoses, new solenoid, and they were installed correctly yet still failed.
