Question Door Tension Upon Handle Pull... Is this a thing?

Ok, my wife thinks I'm crazy, and I very well may be... but...

On the passenger door, when you pull it to open, it doesn't "spring" open. You have to pull the handle up and then nudge it open by leaning on the door.

Is this normal? I think at minimum, it should propel itself away from the frame even just a tiny bit to confirm that it's open.

I took the door apart, but couldn't find anything unhooked or broken. Any ideas? Is this supposed to work this way?

This has been a below average Xmas. Thanks guys.

2006 Ford F150, basic model, no power locks or doors.

I would try to grease your locking mechanisms first. Sounds like it not releasing correctly. If this doesnt work, with your door open, try to pick up on the door and see if your hinges are loose. You might have just a tad bit of play, but ALOT of play isnt good.

Replace the rubber "bumpers" on the door near the latch.

Ok so I I took the latch out and it seems broken. When I pull the door cable, nothing moves in the latch. It seems like there is missing movement from one of the back gears. I don't know how to describe it. Where can I get a new one of these?

I would think just about anywhere. Too bad our trucks aren't available in junk yards yet. At least they aren't around me. That would be an easy swap. I've got an old 98 Explorer for my daughter and I've swapped out more stuff on that from the junk yard then I can list.

Well I ordered one from fordparts.com. Wasn't too bad at ~$40. It was rough to take it out, I will report back the results.

Replaced the latch and adjusted the strike plate. Good as new! Finally got this done!
