Door Rattle - FIXED
So I have no idea why, but all four doors rattling on my F150 FX4 SCrew really bothered me. So I went to the stealership and ordered four new rubber door stops. Save yourself some money and buy them online. The part number is 4L3Z 16758 BA/ I paid like $28 for four, you can find them online for like $1.50 each if you look hard enough.
This helped...... for about a week. Soon they were mushroomed quite a bit like the old ones:
Upon looking a little closer, this is by design to allow the excess rubber to push back against the door while it's shut and keep it from rattling. The problem is, that the lower sidewalls are too weak to allow it to do much at all, and eventually the whole thing collapses.
So I decided to give it a little help. I had some Tygon 1/2"ID x 3/4"OD tubing laying around, and I found that this piece fit just right, stretching the tubing just slightly around the base giving it a nice snug fit.
A short time later I had the first one ready:
Remember, we only want to re-inforce the base, if we cover the excess rubber the door won't shut. I made this mistake the first time. It took a bit of trial and error to get this length as just right.
Finally installed them on my truck:
The doors now do not rattle at all, even when going off-road and over speed bumps. So stoked about this little upgrade. Best of all I only used about $1.00 worth of tubing.
Now I just need to pull the actual door panel off the inside and zip-tie down all the cables so they don't rattle either!
Hope this helps someone else!

Beach bumming it...
Thanks for the idea!
I ordered new bumpers 3 days ago should have them on Monday. I have some spare heater hose I could slide around it. I might just do that. I will update after installing.

seriously........if this solves my problem I will be grateful. I've tried everything, new bumpers, washers, foam etc and nothing lasts for more than two weeks. This is pure genius..

Which cable would that be. My passenger side has a plastic on metal sounding rattle. I was thinking maybe the metal that goes from the door lock to the actuator

Time to order more bumpers I guess.....I too replaced the bumpers when I purchased the truck and the rattles stopped for a couple weeks. I have been doing one to two wraps of electrical tape on the strikers that are attached to the truck. It works great also, but the doors take a little more of a 'push' to get out of the truck. Thanks for the idea! I will try this now.
