I have a 2008 XLT Scab F150. I noticed that the driver door is sagging about 1/8," and I'm trying to tighten it up some. The hinges have what look like reverse TORX or star heads, and that could be the adjustment. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Open the door about half way, stand at the edge of the door , try lifting the door up.

If the door moves up and down, your hinges are worn and no amount of adjusting them will solve the problem, they need to be replaced.

Do that diagnostic and get back to us.

this is assuming all the bolts are tight btw.

Everything is tight. There is no movement in the door whatsoever. It looks like the previous owner used the door as a support to climb into the truck. The door isn't load-bearing, so it's now sagging. Do I need to loosen all the nuts and then use a floor jack? Or is this a job for the body shop?

There is a tool we use in the business called the "monkey bar" that is used to re align doors.

a bar goes over the striker and there us a sliding section that goes into the latch. We then lift up or down on the bar to get the door frame back where we want it.

How low is the door hanging? If you had a floor jack and a block of wood you could open the door up half way, then with a block of wood on the jack give a little up pressure to accomplish the same thing. Just do it gently, slowly, and check your results before you lift the door too much.

I am assuming that when you close the door it is hitting the striker then jumping up as it closes. If you close the door until it just hits the striker, you can peek in and see how much it has to come up. I am also assuming that when the door is closed it fits flush, equal gaps all the way around, the door is hitting the gasket, no water or air leaks....

When the door closes does it mate to the rear door properly? The body lines match up. as do the top and bottom of the door?

If I were you I would give it some GENTLE persuasion with a floor jack, or ask a friend who knows body work to do it for you.

The lines around the door match up right, but the truck is blue with a silver stripe at the bottom. The lines in the paint don't match up-the drive door looks slightly lower than the rear door, as does the trim around the window.

The door actually closes smoothly, too. The latch and striker don't seem to be off at all, as the door opens and closes smoothly.

My dad and I took the nuts loose yesterday, and I picked up on the door while he tightened. It was no help. It seemed like tightening the nuts put the door right back into the low spot.

Again, it's opening and closing smoothly with no water/air leaks. I just want my lines to match up a little better. Also, the whole door is gonna have to come up so I won't tighten up the lines between the front and back doors.

Is it the Orig door? Maybe its been replaced and whoever did the Paint work spoofed it up?

ive seen factory tape stripes/paint lines be crooked. go by the body lines in the door, not the 2 tone line. can you get us a pic? you could get a tape stripe and have it put on over the 2 tone to hide the difference.

I have the same thing going on, my window trim does not match the trim on the rear cab door, but match on the pass side. My hinges are tight so the bushings are not shot. Door closes and latches but it doesn't line up and also appears to make a little more noise than the passenger side does when closing.

It appears to be the original door and hardware, and the paint is factory. I bought the truck used off a lot, so it's hard to be 100%, but the Carfax on it was clean.

The door only needs to be adjusted by about 1/8" or so. I might try the floor jack trick next-it just seems like it shouldn't be as hard as it's been to adjust it.

I guess my question should have been this: is there a different way to adjust the doors on these trucks, or are they just like anything else where you loosen the nuts, raise it up, and tighten the nuts?

I'm late getting back on this, but I talked with a body man at a Ford dealership yesterday, and he seemed to think I should be able to adjust it, even though the bolts are tight. I've attached a few pics to show what's going on with it. The first pic shows the back of the door, the second shows where the front bottom corner is rubbing the inside of the fender, and the third is the front of the door. Again, all the bolts are tight. Help!
