Default Don't Roll this truck with engine off!

Here's a beware for 4x4 owners...

Had a long roll towards my waiting spot after paying for a ticket at BC Ferries terminal (Nanaimo). So I thought let's "save some gas" and shut off the engine while rolling forward in neutral. It's a long gentle gradient so of course I have to use the brakes.

Many guys will know what happens next....grind, grind, bang as the vacuum hubs engage due to loss of stored vacuum! Damn dumb. Fortunately I was only going about 10 mph. Engaged and disengaged 4wd several times during the day - all OK, but I'm glad I wasn't going any faster.

So....don't roll these trucks in neutral with the engine off (unless you happen to be in 4wd already).
