Yeah its 04-early 08 5.4l engines. Basically they failed to use the right antiseize and used a weird plug design. Carbon builds up and causes the plug to fuse to the walls inside the engine. Then when you try to remove it there is a chance it will break. But no, not everyones plugs break.

I talked to a couple dealers in my area and they said they have had very, very few problems. He firmly believed that there was little reason to change the plugs before 100k miles but said if you wanted to error on the side of caution then perhaps 80k miles. Is it possible that this problem is worse in some regions? Consider the known internal issues combined with external environments like salted winter roads. Seems like it could make it worse. Certainaly can't help if you have seizing from two sources (internal and external). Thoughts?

I just bought my daughter an '04 F150...that's what led me here.
It just rolled over 100k and I had the plugs changed last Friday. No issues removing them and it sure did make a difference!
The truck is in great shape and all it needed was plugs - the seller had all the other 100k maintenance items done before I picked it up.
