Maybe these tests is done in a controlled environment, and driving conditions. Not one size fits all.

Yeah, I use Motorcraft 5W-20 Synthetic Blend and a Motorcraft oil filter in my F-150 and that's all I will ever use in my Ford vehicles. I don't think you can go wrong either way, but I prefer to stick with what these trucks were made to run on. However, I do use Mobil 1 in another car and have been doing so for many years.

whats the difference if you pay 34 for a syn and good filter for 10k or just pay 15 for dino and change it at 5k? it costs the same either way, but with the shorter OCI you are emptying the sump of contaminates twice as often. todays conventional oils are awesome! and if you just keep the oil changed on time the engine will outlast the body.

im actually not very picky anymore, i just stock up when i see a name brand oil for under $2 and change the oil at 3k. so far it doesnt matter if its formula shell, quaker, pennz, valvoline, exxon, or chevron it always drains clean and my engine internals are nice and shiny. i have about 50 quarts on the shelf and a stack of mc 820s filters so cost really isnt an issue anymore

heres a pic of my explorer, its had lots of different oils changed at 3k. current fill is QS dino, the last was QS syn, and before that was Formula shell. as you can see its pretty clean...

What filter should I use with the baby seal oil I use?

Should I change it when I can get my hands on more whale oil, or can I use the same filter?

Only my second post, but I ran the cheap synthetic SuperTech oil and the $2.50 SuperTech filter in my 02 Explorer and now I'm at 159k miles. No issues. oil looked fine at changes but I wouldn't go past 5k. Just me.

I'm still an ***, cause I run KnN and Mobil 1 in wifes 2010 Armada and went for an anti-drainback vale filter for the 150 with Mobil 1 of course. But I wouldnt/couldnt trust the 10k mile dealio. Just not in my blood. Winter to harsh where I live (NY) and I travel a lot to much worse in Northern new Hampshire/Vermont.

i always have run in any car or truck Valvoline durablend or maxlife synthetic blend with a motorcraft filter and i substitute a quart of my valvoline for a quart of Lucas oil stabilizer. never had any problems with the engine while useing that combo of oils and filters..

Our motor pool switched to Mobil 1 when they would guarantee the engine at 9k mi oil change intervals and still uses a motorcraft filter. I have an 09 Crown Vic with 45k mi that I've had since new with no problems.
