Wow, tons of bad info there. I dont even know where to start. I guess I could start with the federal hours of service laws or the maintenance and inspection requirements or I guess I could go into statistics that show the trucking industry is safer now than its ever been or maybe I could mention that last year over 70% of the accidents involving trucks were caused by cars. But why muddle this up with stupid facts.
With that being said, I admit that professional drivers do have room for improvement, as does the industry as a whole.

Yea, it may be a federal law, but its also a federal law to not smoke weed, and do you know how many people get away with that? Its the same concept, ust cuz the is there dont mean its bein enforced.

thats true. they dont care about anything, they will run you off the road without thinking twice b/c they most likely wont even get a scratch in an accident. i have almost zero respect for most truckers, complete *** holes. i see them everyday at my work. they always think they know best.

When is the last time you had a random or annual drug test?
Everything in the trucking industry is checked either randomly or scheduled. The DOT and state police regularly conduct road side checks for logs, weight and equipment violations, the DOT audits logs and inspection paperwork at scheduled intervals and randomly. Any idea what your basic log book or equipment violation costs these days? If you guessed about $500, you can double or triple that and be pretty close. Thats not to say some drivers and companies dont push it over the limit, there will always be a few that think they can get by with it, they will eventually be caught. As 2008 said, the industry is run by insurance companies. Trucking companies cant afford to get caught letting that crap happen or their rates go up or they get dropped completely.

And I guess you you drive the speed limit and have not altered your vehicle either.Drivers run 2 log books lots of caffeine and whatever keeps you going.Truck drivers are who I deal with every day and night as a Transport Refrigeration Tech. They have ungodly deadlines and if you have really seen or looked at some of the equipment going down the road up close and first hand you would really understand that the Federal Gov. regulations do not mean anything if you pay the right person to inspect your truck and trailer..I am not blowing smoke up anyones *** here I see it everyday. Some of the bigger companies are just as bad as the poor owner operator.Hell I had to run off of the road the other day in my service truck because the trailer in front of me hauling lumber had two 2x4's slide out and bounce in front of me luckily I stay back otherwise I could be typing this from a Hospital bed or even worse and I would not be able to type at all....
