I have a 05 with the 5.4 with 97000 miles. I like everyone have read all the thousands of threads about the phasers/vcts? My question is should I change them for preventative maintenance or leave them? I have no problem changing them out but also kind of feel like if it ain't broke don't mess with it. Thanks

I think if your engine is running fine on 97k miles, then keep doing what you're doing and keep up with preventative maintenance. That's just my opinion though. The vct's have been revised, so some may say it would be good to change them though.

if the VCTs have been revised, would that be covered by a dealership like a recall? Or would that just be too easy?

Pretty sure its not covered especially because of year and miles on my truck. I just dont know if I should put the updated VCTs in or not
