Default Dip stick questions!!

Hey guys new here as of today. Quick question, got an 06 F-150 XLT with the 5.4. Took it to an oil change shop today and they told me the dip stick was stuck in the tube. Has anyone had this problem? And if so what was the fix? Any suggestions on what I should do? For now I told them to drain it and put 7 quarts back in but it would be nice to have a working dip stick for peace of mind.

I had the exact same problem with mine. I just gently twisted and pulled at same time and it finally came out. What I found was rust around the top of the tube. I just cleaned it the best I could, applied some oil to the o-ring on the dipstick. Hasn't been a problem since.

I have this also. I have to pry with a long screwdriver through the dipstick handle to get it off. I tried the oil on the o ring but it did nothing for me. Guess i should pick up a new one, but i never think of it until i check my oil before heading up north or when doing oil changes. Plus i can't find one anywhere. Can't wait to see what the stealership wants for one.

I used a light grit sandpaper and cleaned up the plastic by the o ring. Then I applied a very thin coat of never seize and problem is gone.

Thankyou! Your post gave me the confidence to yank the hell out that thing. Same issue, rusted/corroded around the top of the tube. I actually lost the o-ring during the process. Went to buy a new one and put some grease on it and the bitch still wouldn't go in. So for now I am running without an o-ring but it still has a snug fit without it. Who knows.
