With that logic...Aren't one piece plugs better than 2? If so, wouldn't Ford have done that?
Reality, noise is a big concern. That small tube acts as a silencer. Making for a quiet ride. Same as muffler. That 55 gallon drum under an F150 doesn't breath as well as a smaller aftermarket muffler.

Really? You think that Ford would rather produce a "quieter" truck than one that's more fuel efficient? BS. Think about it. The 2 piece design was not seen as "flawed" until people actually started changing the plugs. Are you saying Ford has sabotaged the market just to make some coin? I don't think so. And as for the muffler. I agree it's huge and worthless, well except to all the EPA freaks that need to be pleased.

I've got a straight pipe under my rig and have done the DWV mod. The straight pipe actually helped. I gained 1mpg. The DWV on the other hand was just a cheap easy mod that has yet to prove any gain on my rig and I've yet to hear about another person gaining 3mpgs from it.

I'll agree that 3mpg is a bit much from this mod. I did a k&n filter, DMV mod, and an airaid MIT, and picked up a solid 1mpg. I might get more if I feather it around, but my foot seems to have gotten heavier with all the cool noises my truck makes now.

Also, I just filled her up today and got 14.5mpg out of this last tank. I'm thinking I've been buying bad gas as my previous 2 tanks were from a holiday that I normally don't stop at and this last tank was from an SA where I normally do and my mileage dropped. I'm going to try that holiday again after I get this tank empty and see what happens. Still got 1.6mpg which is more along the lines of what I was expecting.

Any improvement is well worth it, considering the price of this mod.
