deleted my rear cats
this might sound like a dumb question but, i deleted my rear cats and at this time all i have is a 18'' piece of piping clamped on the manifold on each side after the O2 sensor. how bad is this for my truck? i don't want to start the infamous back pressure debate but am i harming my engine with it coming out right under the cab like that.

Won't hurt anything but you may have odor/carbon monoxide issues under the wrong driving conditions. How does it sound? I would think the drone would be pretty bad.I did something very similar to a Chevy 2500/6 liter a few years ago and it was unbearable at certain RPMs.

i do get some oder at stop lights/signs. it doesn't drone really. but its pretty damn loud. and when i get into 4th gear(i believe) its pretty annoying in the cab and all the vibration is irritating. but i feel like i don't have as much power having it dropped off right there

Its likely that the nearly complete loss of back pressure along with significantly shortened pipe length has cost you some low/midrange torque.

I had mine deleted and it sounded pretty cool for the first couple hours. 3 days later I put them back in because it became so annoying and loud and I actually noticed my truck lost power off the line. Now I'm running true dual borla stingers with X-pipe. It's loud but sounds amazing and not like a farm truck or a pos Chevy
