Default Degreaser or simple green

I'm about to pull the trigger and clean my engine bay and was wondering what's better, simple green or just some degreaser ?

Orange blast from Lowes if you can find it. I used it on my Focus, sprayed the engine with it and the grease and gunk started to drip off, it is amazing stuff. Then I used very damp rags and wiped as much up as I could, then repeat. Last step for me is to use foaming tire shine, lightly misted over the engine, then a good wipe down with dry rags and it looks good as new. Most say they spray the engine with a power washer or hose.....I just cant bring myself to do that when my method has always proven to work very well.

I was researching Orange Blast to see about any spray you missed - but it appears discontinued everywhere.

I use Purple Power and it's a good degreaser. Similar to simple green. I'd probably rinse just with water first to get any mud off first, then apply the degreaser and rinse.

I used degreaser and it says to let sit for 15 minutes but I was nervous as ole hell so after 10 min I sprayed it with a light mist from my pressure washer. I just have to shine it up now. I did cover the pcm, altenator, throttle body assembly and air filter. No problems but it could use another wash with degreaser, especially since ya an 06 and I've owned it since 08!

Found this thread interesting. I am in the citrus flavor industry in Florida and we make that product (orange terpenes /D-limonene) by the truckload as a byproduct when folding orange peel oil. It is often sold to cleaning companies and the such. We sell it for $3.00/lb.

I might have to bring some home and clean my up my motor

I'm guessing the citrus breaks down the grease. You say you work for the company, is it a concentrate or do y'all have it for "vehicles" ?
