I am going the engine replacement route. Ford parts is actually cheaper than jasper and the dealer I bought it from is installing for a good deal.($700) It comes with updated phasers timing chains. Etc and new updated spark plugs. I read about bad exhaust manifolds so I'm coughing up an extra 150 bucks for new manifolds for the new engine. The way I see it. If you can put $500 in parts and more In labor and get it another 50k miles out of it and it being cheaper than a reman engine . Go for it. Just know it probably will need a new engine in the future.. I actually almost went and replaced the timing set and all but figured I'm going to keep it and know there is a new engine in it. And know what the problems I have now are versus gambling with another truck. Best of luck to you!

What's the core charge if you wanted to keep your original long block assembly? Might be something to hang on to and have rebuilt in case something happens.
