CV joint "thump" after IWE replacement
2004 SCrew 4X4 - (The short story version): replaced the IWE but CV joint on axle end is now "thumping" or "clunking' when I rotate the wheel. Is it possible to "dislocate" or damage a CV joint just reinstalling it?
Thanks for any help...

Spline nut on the outside of the bearing is torqued to spec. Vac lines are attached.
The problem is on the end where it attaches to the axle shaft from the differential (the round disk with 6 bolts around the circumference). When I manually rotate the wheel, that end of the CV joint "clunks" as it spins - visually moves the axle shaft. The axle is NOT bent, it does not wobble when rotated when the CV joint is disconnected.
It was NOT doing this prior to replacing the IWE.
I cannot think of anything I would have done to damage the CV joint removing it to replace the IWE, but for some reason it is now "clunking" or "wobbling" when it spins. It almost looks/acts like it is getting in a bind when it rotates.
I started the 6 bolts on the CV joint by hand, and I tightened them in an alternating pattern.

I had the same problem i had to take the cv axle back out and start over 2nd time it workee fine make sure the backing plate that mounts to the diff is on correctly
