Default Custom Air Intake

Hey guys, just wanted to show you the results of my modified stock intake. I took out the silencer from the intake tube and I cut the air filter housing. What do you all think?

Looks functional. I would suggest adding a heat shield though. Easy enough to do....

Average air temps in an engine compartment is 200F and if you have a decent heat shield, that can cut it down to 100 to 125F which obviously is better for the engine overall.....

I like the color on it!

Lol! I completely agree. I just wanted to add some color so that anyone who doesnt know what i was talking about would be able to see it. I have a spare parts that i have already replaced for the blue ones. Thank you for your thoughts though. Much appreciated!

That's an excellent suggestion! How would I go about building a heat shield? Any Ideas?

Dunno, how's your fabrication skill?

Would not be complicated at all, I would suggest looking at several namebrand cai's kits just so you get an idea of what a normal setup is.

I have no fabrication skills so I just bought one for my truck. lol

Oh really? that sounds doable. I may try it. thank you!

I've been reaserching heat shields and found that there are many people who suggest not using heat shields due to "heat soak". What is everyone's thoughts on this?
