Actuator Assembly - New Part Number - Under $100
Hey guys,
Just an update, Ford renamed the switch Actuator Assembly. The new part number is: 7L3Z7E096A
I ordered mine from Mike at www.silverstatefordparts.com
The list price was $184.07, and they discounted the on-line order to $97.57. I received the part in one week, and it fixed my cruise problem. Taking the old unit out wasn't fun, as I'm sure I didn't have the right tools to cut out the old plastic clips, but I did it in an hour. I'm a computer technician, not a mechanic, so anyone can do this
Good luck!

The cruise control on my 2004 f-150 works intermittently. Sometimes it will be on for long periods of time, and sometimes it doesn't work at all. It sometimes kicks out when I use the power windows, of all things.
It seems to work better in damp climates. When it's pouring rain it works pretty good. When it's hot and dry it doesn't work at all.
I don't know what the link is with the power windows??
From the comments posted It's nice to see Iam not alone. What switches need to be replaced???
Also, my tail lights are not led and they work fine. I do need to press the brake pedal in order to move the floor shifter.
Thanks to anyone who can clear this up.
Stephan

mine sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. If it isn't working I just seem to have to push the brake pedal sorta quickly and then it works again. Acts like the brake is dragging or something

Any new diagnoses to this problem? Just checking before I dig in and fix. The break has to be applied to put in gear so that isn't a problem but I have all the other symptoms listed in the thread.

Bucko, if I wanted to replace my brake/tail/turn signals with led bulbs I would need a resistor to offset the cruise issue? What about just using a low-voltage flasher? Or would the low-voltage flasher only work to slow down the blink times, and not fix the cruise issue?

Just because the brake has to be applied does not mean it is not defective.

me too! but it may be my map lights or power sliding rear window!
my truck has the same problem!
sometimes works, sometimes does not.
my truck has to be in park to shift.
all tail lights and brake lights work fine.
but, my map lights are giving me problems. i have the sunroof and power rear sliding window.
my rear sliding window doesnt work. it was intermittent..but now it doesnt work at all. i have only opened it maybe less than 10 times since new. just to see if it works.
whats weird is..my map lights..i replaced the bulbs..and it started working and then quit..then worked..then didnt. i pulled the map light panel down and tried to pull the bulb and its kinda melted where the bulb pops in. why? i dont know. it has built up some heat.
now i have many electrical problems!!!
any idea anyone?
i have no idea where to find the plastic map light housing in a junk yard. i am in northeast georgia.
my dealer once diagnosed the cruise control problem as "switches".....but this thread has me wondering.
thanks
