Cruise control problem.

sounds good, I'll give that a try
Thanks for the reply. I also have the floor shift. I'll give it a try. Once it is replaced, will I have to take the truck in to get anything reflashed/reprogrammed; or will it be just replace the part and test?
Thanks much.

The best way is to test the switch as the TSB says and then buy one if checked out defective.
also there is no reflash ford had a group of bad switches wich are not checked in the diagosing steps

Possible Fix for Some of You:
My cruise was not working, and also, I did not have to press on the brake to shift out of park. This led me to believe the brake shift interlock switch was causing the problem. Now here's the funny part: the lightbulb that provides backlight for the gear indicator (seen in bottom pic posted by Dragonsledder on Page 1) was burnt out so I replaced it, and now my cruise works perfectly. I still have a faulty interlock switch, but not pushing on the brake to shift is fine with me. Cost: $3.50. It's worth checking.

Same cruise control issue on my 04 F150 Lariat with CC shift
Hey guys,
New to the forum, but a veteran ford man.
I have a 2004 F150 Lariat supercrew. I've got the shifter in the center console. I too have the intermittent cruise control issue. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't
I haven't checked out the the brake interlock shift thing yet, but I'll do that today and see if I can get it out of part without pressing the brake pedal.
If it is that, is it hard to change that on the models with the center console shifter? What is the actual part i would need and the basic process to change it?
I do have extended warranty on my truck , would something like this be covered?
Thanks fellas
Kas

Cruise Control Issue
Yes, I am able to shift out of park without having to press down the brake, so I think it is the shift interlock switch.
Now I posted before that I have the Center Console Shift. I don't even know where this switch is located.
Looks like this should be something recalled by Ford, since having to press the brake to shift out of park is a safety feature.
What happens if I step out of my truck, with it still on, and my dog or kid knocks the shifter out of park and runs me over???
I still have warranty coverage- is this something at least covered on my warranty?

Hey Dragonsledder,
Thanks for the info. Where is the switch located and how do I get to it? I'm guessing that its in the center console where the shifter is. I can go to Ford today and get the switch if they have it. I'm pretty mechanically savvy.
Thank again.
