I have a 2005 f150 V8 5.4 that I'm having a problem with. When turning at very low speeds i.e. in a parking lot, a creaking sound occurs. I believe it is coming from the leaf springs. Although, when I brought it in to Ford they said it was my shims. Ford also told me that the shims are made of plastic, I that true?

i have that same problem. just turn ur music up loud and u wont hear them

Mine does it too. It's nothing to worry about at all. I had a friend ride back there and listen to it and the sound was coming from my shocks. Just spray some WD-40 or whatever you prefer and it will go away.

I know it isn't a F150 but it is relevant
My 2000 Nissan frontier has the same thing but it comes from the left front. it only does it when I am making a sharp slow turn

I've heard of them doing that. That may be a little more serious since it's where all the steering components are. I'd prolly get that checked out.

I has been doing it for at least 5 years with no ill effects. I had it looked at and the dealer couldn't find anything I also looked and couldn't see anything loose The best I can come up with is that the weight of the truck is shifting and the shocks compressing a Little more then normal.

On a side not I really do not trust my Nissan dealer. I heard rattling coming from under the truck and I took it in for warranty work the dealer told me "the ehost system is rotten and needs to be replaced and it is not covered by the warranty I have" it turned out to be the heat shield was breaking loose.

I posted a creaking noise from my 2005 Ford at the front left (drivers side) when making a right turn from a stop. I was told by another poster to check the upper and lower A-arm nuts/bolts on the left side. They need to be very tight. I have yet to check these. I will post my results when I check them.

i dont trust wd-40 for a lubricant it works good then dries out. u can use the 3m silicon lubricant it works good but the creaking sound will go away after a while. mine did.

I don't like using it either on my vehicles but it will work if someone happens to have some lying around. I usually use mechanic's grease for creaking sounds.
