Creaking noise when driving slow
Hey y'all,
Today I noticed a creaking sound coming from the front end of my truck as I was driving slow (20 mph). It was happening when driving straight and turning either direction.
It's not exactly a "rhythmic" noise, kind of erratic.
I once had the same problem 2 years ago, but it was a rhythmic creaking noise when I was making slow right turns. One of the wheel bearings was bad and wheel hub assembly had to be replaced.
Could it be bad wheel bearings again?
I hate the fact it you can't just change the bearing.

Does it get faster and slower when you speed up and slow down? If it doesn't I'd say it could be the upper control arm bushings. Mine do the same thing I just havn't gotten under there with grease to get them quiet again.

Your best bet is to get underneath and look for any signs of wear/cracked bushings/blown up bushings/something with slack that should be firm. It could be a multitude of things but nobody would be able to diagnose it over a forum without looking at it. Get underneath and check out everything. I had a similar noise and it ended up being the lower bushing of a strut.

Okay, I drove in a high school parking lot to see when the creaking noise happens.
I can hear it when my front wheels hit some some bumps and uneven road.
I put my truck in park and decided to use my 215 lbs to push down on on the front end and see if I can cause the creaking. It creaks on the passenger side, but only when my wheels are straight.
I took some pics.
I guess I should be glad it's not the wheel bearings again.
If it's the ball joints, how can I grease them?

Okay, I'm borrowing a grease gun and I bought a needle attachment.
So do I just stick it into the rubber seals and inject grease until it starts to bleed from the hole?

You basically want to fill the rubber seals full of grease. It's not as beneficial as a grease fitting but it will eliminate the squeaking and give the joint atleast some lubrication.
