Eh... that would cause too many customer service headaches. The same reason why the real oil pressure gauges were replaced with idiot gauges. Everyone thought their oil pressure fluctuating was a problem because they didn't know sh*t about how an engine works.

Personally I think its easier to slide or pivot the bed instead of dropping the tank. I did my 04 and 99 this way. Find and unscrew the 6 bed screws along with the gas tank/cap screws and any wiring that may interfere. Either take rear bumper off or put 2x4's under bed rails to raise height of bed to clear bumper and slide bed back and pivot enough to get yourself in there. The fuel line and others with those quick clips are such a pain to release that I could'nt imagine doing them from underneath with limited sight. Just my oppinion
