Default crank no start 2004 fx4 5.4l

Ok, so truck randomly died on me yesterday driving down the road. Towed it to where I'm staying. Will start with starting fluid, so I know it's a fuel problem.

When I turn the key, I hear the pump prime. So I replaced my FPDM as my old one looked terrible. No change. Took the fuel line off before the filter, no fuel gets spat out when I turn key or start it.

Any other thinks to try that are relatively simple before I pay a mechanic to replace the pump? It's the only idea I have even though it primes.. does the new fdpm need to be grounded to the frame? So far its not bolting down while i fight the bolt..

Thanks

It doesn't need any additional grounding to the frame as some members have totally relocated the FPDM to inside their cab to eliminate it ever corroding again. My guess is like yours, if no fuel is coming out of the line before the filter, probably the fuel pump itself. But you say you hear it priming, so I am a little confused.

Everytime I turn the key, it primes. When I bridge the connectors on the fdpm, it continues making the priming sound until key is removed

The other problem I'm coming across- are these pumps varying by wheel base? I read it was, but no parts store sorts or even lists wheel base..

I've never done this to any of these trucks. If it's not too much trouble, could you take some pictures?

Sorry for delay, process seemed very straight forward, but I'm traveling and at an rv park, and of course they weren't keen on dropping the tank here, so I had to have a shop do it.

Truck runs and drives, but I'm getting lean codes, specifically p0171/p0174 plus o2 sensors per oreily this morning. Cleared and just pulled just 0171 at autozone. Runs rough, surges a little. Looks like I knocked a vacuum line off somewhere screwing with it..

Right after I had my fuel pump replaced the fuel rail pressure sensor under the hood went bad. Truck ran horrible. The diaphragm was stuck so the computer didn't know what the fuel pressure was. Once we fixed that it ran great.

Those pesky vacuum leaks mess with everything. Maybe Ford could put a vacuum gauge on the dash so we could see what was going on.
