Default A Couple More Questions...

Okay, so as some of you already know, I am looking to buy a 2004 - 2008 generation F150 Lariat sometime after the new year. My budget will be around $12,000, but I could go higher, if the truck is the right one.

But I have a couple more questions I'd like to ask, since, as I've said in other threads, this will be my first truck, so I don't have much experience, and am kind of a noob... at least with full-size trucks (my dad and uncles, cousin, and friend have all had Ford Rangers before).

First off, I'd like to have some first-hand insight from actual F150 owners of this generation, as to the actual stock ride height... the primary reason for my wanting a full-size truck, is to be able to ride higher, and see over more of the traffic than I can now, in a car. As this would be my first truck, I don't have much experience with the various ride height differences of the various trucks. Does anyone have an "eye-level" photo from the driver's seat, that would show what the traffic around the truck looks like from the driver's seat? Any insight in this area would be appreciated.

Also, my first choice of color would be the green with tan interior. But I was wondering if this generation of Lariat was also offered with that bronze color exterior and tan interior? That would be my second choice.

Third, given a choice, I'd like to find a truck with the shifter between the driver & passenger seats, and not on the steering column. Which of the two is more common, or harder to find?

I appreciate any and all insight or answers! My thanks, in advance!

Specs on these year trucks (ride height, etc.) can all be found with Google searches. As to option counts (how many floor shifts verses column shifts), this may not be easily available. You may get lucky and find statistics as to how many models in specific colors were made.

Google away.

I think the best thing you could do is go look at some truks, sit in them, drive them, meaure them. Then you'll know.

Yeah, I think I will rent an F150 from U-Haul for a day, so I can get a feel of driving it all day and night without the pressure of a dealer.

I own an 04 with a column. Id say 2/3 are floor, 1/3 are column, but thats just a guess. ALL King ranch trucks came with a floor shift. As for the "bronze color" I think you mean the copper/burnt orange color. I'm going to venture to say thats king ranch only, but again could be wrong. What I do know for sure is that color is only 2006 thru 2008.

As for the ride height. you just need to test drive one its all relative. I have a leveled 2wd but I'm coming from an f250 with a 4" lift so I feel like I sit low. If you're coming from a car you will feel like you sit really high.

Thanks. Yeah, that's the color I'm thinking of.

That's pretty much what I wanted to know and hear, thanks. Yeah, my daily driver/work car is a 2005 Focus ZX3 which I bought new, and my "weekend" car is an 1987 Mercedes 300E. Before that, I had a 1985 Mercedes 190E and a 1982 Mercedes 240D before that, so all my life I've been in cars, and I'm at the point where I want something that feels higher.

Thanks for the info on the shifter, guys! Gonna try and rent one to test drive as soon as I can.

Here's another question I thought of today at work...

Which was more common among the Lariats... the sunroof, or the rail module system? I prefer the rail system.
