Default Could one acruator cause 4x4 failure

Stuck In 4x4 low and the shop said their replacing an actuator, could this cause the truck to stay in 4x4 low and the switch not to work etc etc... ?

Are you familiar with the whole 4x4 system because if so I really need to talk to someone via cell phone to see what's going on?
