Coolant Temp Gauge sticking?

Coolant Temp Gauge sticking?
I have a 2006 f150 5.4l triton FX4.
I believe my temp gauge is sticking. Rarely, the gauge will go down to 0 when the truck hasn't been ran for quite a few hours, and it will run up to "normal" temp readings.
Most of the time, the gauge will stick at the normal operating temp after being off over night, and will peg out once it's been running for 15-20 minutes, and stay pegged.
No warning lights, dings, and no limp mode.
Was wondering if it would be the censor, or just a bad gauge.
I would think, if it were the censor, it would at least give a warning light or ding.
Picture shows after 15 minutes of driving. Gauge started just past half way mark, at start up.

Probably faulty gauge or stepper motor. But, did you plug a scan tool in and see what the coolant and cylinder head temps are? That would be the first thing I'd do.

I have not plugged in a scanner to check, yet. I have used a laser temp reader, and that read 197 on the rad hose. I plan on stopping at Autozone today, in the middle of a 70 mile trip.
Before start up this morning, gauge was sitting here.<br/>
