The man is looking to buy a truck. I offered one. I don't see where this is any of your business.

This is not the place.... PM him if you want to sell him your truck. Or post it where it belongs. It's crap like this that clutters up the forums.

How is he going to sell it if he doesn't tell the buyers he has it?

He will sell it if he lowers the price 4K. The OP wants a 4x4, not a overpriced 2WD.

Back on to the OPs question...
I've not had any issues with my '08 5.4L, just passed 55k miles.

Thanks but no thanks. didn't offend me but posting a truck for sale that I'm not looking for is off topic and not answering the question I was asking.

Had you said the truck had so many miles and had this that or no issue, then maybe mentioning you had it for sale would've been more appropriate, though likely biased. lol

OP, you're right for asking this question. I've had my 05 5.4 FX4 For 5 years and I'll tell you what I observed.

The 5.4 is sort of a dog. It drinks gas like mad. But this is a truck, and a heavy truck at that. The 5.4 is an adequate power plant for the vehicle. Slightly underpowered for some of the larger hills around here. I've not driven the 4.6 but I imagine it would perform great in the flat lands and if you aren't towing it would be okay.

Maintenance and reliability (my experiences only): I have 250000 KILOMETRES on the odometer. Original drivetrain. The truck makes noise at start and the classic diesel tick when hot (this is caused by the variable timing components AKA cam phasers). It has made the noise for as long as I can remember. Doesn't effect the performance of the truck. The danger of this motor is that it will jump time or become starved of enough oil pressure and it will need to be replaced. Also, the spark plugs are a big headache. They snap and require a special extractor tool. Meaning big $ on labour.
The transmission and other drivetrain components have been smooth and nearly maintenance free. Just the regular fluid services.
The ride of these trucks is INCREDIBLE. They are planted, heavy, and just feel safe. I am a hunter here in Canada which means snow/mud/ice/water often in the safe day. The 4x4 shifts seamlessly. It's kicks into 4x4 so quietly you almost don't trust that it actually worked until you hit the gas and you aren't stuck anymore.
I can not praise the performance of the suspension components enough. They really are Ford tough. Potholes and rough roads are what these things were built to handle. Over 5000 KILOMETRES on back roads this year and the alignment is still perfect. The rear shocks got replaces last year for the first time, cheap and easy to do yourself. No jack required. The front struts are coming due for my old girl for the first time with 250k KILOMETRES.

The TL;DR..
I love this truck. Still puts a smile on my face driving it to work and when my engine eventually dies I will put another engine in her and go on down the road.

I'm in the same boat as ColdinCanada. Similar mileage. I have 240,000 KM. It's just been regular maintenance for me other than the spark plugs the first time. It's a pain in the *** the first time but the new plugs are fine. My truck ticks like he says, but that's just what these trucks do. I have never been left stranded by my truck (owned it since it had 60,000 KM). Front struts have been replaced. Rear shocks should probably be replaced soon but I am actually not too worried about it yet. I was contemplating buying a new F150 but decided to keep the old girl and put a couple hundred into some routine truck maintenance instead of spending $550 per month for 7 years for a new truck with the same options haha
