What are those benefits? The stock set up is a "cold air intake"

True, that the 'benefits' of a cai are marginal on these trucks, I say do what you please. Nothing wrong with using a K&N, but don't expect any noticeable difference. Remember your ride, your style. I assume you picked it up cheap anyways since it was missing pieces and you mentioned tossing it out

Only benefit over stock is perhaps looks under the hood. Other then that, it will benefit by lightening your wallet from its cash cost.

you can get somewhat more horsepower by increasing air flow and there are no sound baffles so that gets more air flow as well. The stock setup is in the fender not allowing much air

yeah. I think it would be better and I got it for free. If it doesn't give me any more performance it will still sound better so that's good

Hopefully you know everything you just said is bullsh**. The stock intake provides more than enough air, already cold, and the sound baffles do not impede it. This topic has been beaten to death here.

no, because it is definitely giving more airflow to the engine. I spent $12 on the missing piece and the rest I got for free so it's totally worth it.

The only thing cold air intakes are good for on these trucks is the placebo effect. Just make sure to get it tuned when you put it on.
