Default Coils 5.4

I was driving the truck the other day and it started shaking bad around 70 mph. I thought that I lost a wheel weigh or something because it was shaking from the left front side. The truck started to spit and **** and just was not running well at all in the higher RPM’s, about 3,ooo and above so that's why I think it's a coil gone bad. Then my check engine light came on and started flashing. I had my scanner in the truck and plugged it up and it said that I had multiple engine miss fires. Then once I punched it said that I have a miss fire in cylinder 6. I think that it is a coil that has gone bad. I have already replaced coil 1 and 3 (I think those are the cylinder numbers.) I am planning on just replacing all 8 of them this weekend. Doing some research, I have found that there are coils that are $100- $300. What is a good brand of coil? I want something that I can put in and don't have to worry about it. Also and I right about a coil going bad? I will be posting a video of what it sounds like when I get a chance.

Also the truck is a 2006 fx4 5.4 with 154,000 miles on it. Sparkplugs and all that stuff were changed at 100,000 miles.

Thanks.

Might want to pull those plugs and see what brand they are unless you already know. Could be crap plugs. Anyway get a scanner and pull codes and you should be able to find out which cylinder(s) is/are misfiring.

Regarding brands, pretty much anything with good reviews... check Amazon. I've been using a cheap $40 set of 8 for years with no problems.

Yeah i don't know what type of coils are in there. They should be ford motor crafts because we had ford replace the 2 when they went bad. but as far as the other 6 I have no idea because we bought the truck used. Also idk if this can amount to anything but i did use gunk on the engine bay to try to clean up some of the road grim. I did that 2 days before the truck ****ted out. But i highly doubt that could of caused this. the truck has always spitted and stuff on a hard acceleration but i always thought it was the exhaust sound because it has a x pipe on it.

Well head to any parts place and have them do a scan. It's free.

"better" scanner doesn't matter since even a $15 scanner can pull codes... anyway if you know what cylinder, try swapping the coils from 5 and 6, clear the codes and see if the code comes back on the same cylinder or moves to 5

He has a DTC scanner... but... yeah pull #6 plug and take a look at it like Martian said..then you will know what brand plugs you have...maybe swap #5 and #6 COP's and see if the DTC follows it before you spend money.
