Default Coil packs for the 04-08 5.4s?

I'm trying to find this pretty quick. Both my truck and my girlfriends truck are missing/skipping. It's obviously spark/coil related. My gfs truck just had the plugs changed last month so I'm thinking it's the coil packs. My question is do I need to get motorcraft coil packs or am I good to order one of the sets for $80 on ebay? I understand OEM is usually best with Ford, but is it really worth 4x the price? Any help is appreciated.

Bought a set of my coil packs from Summit Racing for $200, and got these Motorcraft SP-515 plugs for another $100-150 I think. Can't remember that price...lol

just bought 8 DG511 COPS on ebay from Global automotive (reccomended seller with lifetime warranty) for $65 SHIPPED!! Even if half of them are bad, they will help me find my single bad coil and I'll have extras. OEM is like 40 bucks EACH or more. Worth a shot if you ask me.....

Bump with another question.

How can I tell if it's coils vs plugs that are bad? I know I need to change the plugs sooner or later (81k miles) but if it's the coils that I need to change I would rather do that first.

If I'm in a low gear and start to accelerate (slowly, not enough to down shift) it will hesitate and miss. It feels like the transmission is slipping almost. This only happens at speeds between 40 and 60 mph. Hard acceleration it's fine. But when it's under load at a low RPM it's missing. I'm really hoping it's coils right now since the plugs are a bitch. How can I test to find out?

That sounds like the same issue I'm dealing with. I thing I'm gonna change plugs and coils. I'm just worried about the breaking plugs. I found a broken plug puller on amazon. $90 buck though

Just bought some cheap coils for $70, not a problem with them so far.

I'm at a loss here. I read the mode 6 data today. All cylinders passed, though cylinder 3 has one counted misfire since the last time the computer was cleared. Changed the COP on number 3 and it's still shaking just as bad. I'm wondering though why none of the misfires are registering? Neither a check engine light or the more detailed mode 6.

The lisle tool is 60 bucks shipped on amazon. Buy it from them and if you end up not needing it they will let you return it. That's what I did, they charged me 6 bucks to ship it back since I ended up not needing it. 6 bucks was cheap insurance to have the tool on hand just in case.
