Coated Running Boards

I've been slowly trying to get rid of all of the chrome on my truck. Finally got to doing my running boards and used the spray on bed liner. Sanded down the chrome, used self etching primer and then sprayed multiple thin coats until I liked the finish. The only issue I had was that the threads in the boards for the screws that held on the plastic step pads had basically fallen off resulting in the screws just turning inside and not coming out. Had to just pull them off, and ended up using adhesive to put them back on. I'm really happy the way they turned out, and hope the texture will help a little this winter in the ice and snow. First two pictures show the boards sanded Third is after the self etching primer Last is them finished

That's not a bad idea. I was thinking about finding some self-tapping screws that would thread right into the existing holes. Right now the Adhesive is working fine.

Looks good. I'd like to do that to my running boards and both bumpers, all of which are chrome.
